This work presents the figure as a retained trace rather than a fixed portrait. The head emerges through incised and overdrawn lines that seem to register movement, revision and hesitation. Instead of building a solid facial mass, the image remains open, provisional and lightly held against the textured ground. The face appears less as a stable presence than as the record of its own making. Within the trace group, the work can be understood as an image of inscription: a figure that persists through marks, pressure and repetition.
