interval_00

In interval_00, figuration is distributed across three connected fields. Two partial faces occupy the outer panels, while the centre withdraws almost completely into surface, gesture and interruption. A horizontal red trace crosses the composition, linking the three parts without resolving them into a continuous image.

The work depends on the interval between recognition and disappearance. The faces remain present enough to be perceived, yet neither becomes a stable portrait. Between them, the central panel functions less as an absence than as an active space in which the image is suspended, interrupted and reconfigured.

Seen as a triptych, interval_00 shifts attention away from the isolated figure toward the space between appearances. Presence is created not only by what remains visible, but also by distance, interruption and the material traces that connect one image to the next.
